چکیده

This study explored the application of whole and defatted Moringa oleifera seed-derived coagulants in powder (P-MOS DP-MOS), aqueous extraction (AEP-MOS AEDP-MOS), saline (SEP-MOS SEDP-MOS) treatment a synthetic turbid water by coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation jar test apparatus. The performance M. was quantified compared with alum terms ability to neutralize restabilize suspension charge, turbidity removal, effect on pH electrical conductivity, residual organic matter, as well cytotoxicity treated water. All evaluated forms were able (in overdose) particles charges suspension. Saline extractions obtained best removal results (90%) between coagulants, while removed 98% turbidity. Differently from alum, increased dosage did not change value. and, lesser extent, conductivity increasing coagulant dosage. matter (DOC), unlike which this property at high dosages enhanced mammalian cells. On other hand, seeds reduced when seeds. Despite being reduce previous oil proved be an important step processing changing capacity reducing addition generating significant by-product (Ben oil). Although have shown results, they should used caution due dosages.

Biochemical characterization and anti-inflammatory properties of an isothiocyanate-enriched moringa (Moringa oleifera) seed extract

Moringa oleifera Lam. is a tropical plant, used for centuries as food and traditional medicine. The aim of this study was to develop, validate and biochemically characterize an isothiocyanate-enriched moringa seed extract (MSE), and to compare the anti-inflammatory effects of MSE-containing moringa isothiocyanate-1 (MIC-1) with a curcuminoid-enriched turmeric extract (CTE), and a material furth...

Effects of fermentation time on the functional and pasting properties of defatted Moringa oleifera seed flour

Effects of fermentation time on the functional and pasting properties of defatted Moringa oleifera seed flour was examined. Moringa seeds were fermented naturally at 0, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h; oven dried at 60°C for 12 h; milled into five different flour samples for each fermentation time and defatted. The functional and pasting properties of the samples were determined. The result shows significa...
